About
While under isolation in his apartment with COVID-19 in June of 2020, founder Jeff Ewalt took the opportunity to plan out his own computer networking business. He had designed a network for his current employer, a medium-sized business, which opened him up to the possibility there could be a market for building and working on networks for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Some of the advantages of the network he put in place for that employer included the following:
The ability to filter web content
Lower cost for internet service
An added layer of security at the network level
A separation of the physical network into multiple “virtual” networks, which gave the option for setting restrictions separately for each virtual network
This could be useful for an organization if different groups of users, for example executives and accountants, need access to different network resources
This could also be useful if certain groups of users need more restrictions, such as guests
Increased Wi-Fi accessibility
With his technical knowledge of computer networking, including a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), he made the decision to create a networking business targeted for SMBs. His idea was SMBs could benefit from some of the same technologies large enterprises used, but at costs affordable to them.
As the IT landscape has changed, so has the business. With the availability of the cloud, more businesses, small and large, have migrated to it. SMBs can take advantage of the lower startup costs, decreased maintenance, ability to easily scale, and increased flexibility of the cloud. Today, I/O Antics offers many services beyond traditional networking infrastructure to make sure our customers are well served with the latest technologies available to them.
